Cave Diving Officer for South-East Asia

Wednesday, 10th January, 2007 11:07 pm by FiNS Team

Cedric VerdierCave diving is a growing activity in the Asia Pacific region. More and more caves are explored all over the region. It’s a safe activity, as long as people are properly trained and follow safe standard practices.

The National Association of Cave Diving (NACD) — one of the major leading associations worldwide — was established in 1968 for the purpose of achieving closer cooperation and understanding among members of the cave, recreational diving communities and the general public; so they may work together toward the common goal of increasing safety in cavern and cave diving.

FiNS contributor Cedric Verdier was recently appointed by the NACD as a Safety Officer for South-East Asia. His duties include answering all questions regarding safety and education, and to work toward a better understanding of the cave diving specific issues together with authorities and governmental bodies.

Cedric is a veteran Cave Diving Instructor Trainer based in Thailand. He recently explored some deep cave systems to an Asian record of 200m/ 655ft.

Tuesday, 10th October, 2006 8:00 am by FiNS Team

OztekIn cave diving there are two different styles; technical divers who dive in flooded caves but rarely leave the water and cavers who dive but treat the flooded section as a barrier to finding further dry cave.
