U-Boat 4 2, 3 or 4

Wednesday, 17th September, 2008 12:52 pm by FiNS Team

U Boat WorxWe first noticed U-Boat Worx when we stumbled across their line of personal submarines called C-Questers.

Once again, we find ourselves salivating at the (admittedly remote) prospect of playing with the company’s latest product, the C-Quester 3, which is designed for three people…or apparently, even for four if you only allow small people (We’re not sure what the definition of “small” is in this instance, but it does pique the imagination).

But wait! That’s not all. According to the company, the two-person C-Quester 2 has been “reinvented” to make it the perfect complement for superyachts (in case you were wondering what was missing on your personal luxury cruise vessel.)

If you happen to be at the Monaco Yacht Show next week, please check out these awesome looking submersible transport systems and let us know if they’re as cool as they look.

Help Protect Snapper Ledge

Friday, 12th September, 2008 11:09 am by FiNS Team

Snapper Ledge, a popular dive site off Tavernier in the Florida Keys, is home to some of the most dense and diverse marine life populations in the area. Unfortunately, Snapper Ledge has become a popular destination for spear-fishing.

It is common for recreational divers to see carnage left by spear-fisherman, many of whom shoot animals simply for sport. Some divers have reported spear-fisherman killing animals a few feet away from them.

Help get Snapper Ledge designated as a Sanctuary Preservation Area (SPA) by signing this petition, which will be presented to the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

Raja Ampat Entrance Tag Design Contest 2009
Finalists have been announced for the 2009 Raja Ampat Entrance Tag Design Contest, hosted at Wetpixel.com.

Last year’s winning image, a pygmy seahorse with its tail wrapped around a gorgonian branch, was shot by Alex Mustard, who won a week-long dive trip to Raja Ampat in addition to having his image attached to every diver who visited the park in 2008. The winner of the 2009 tag contest will win a week at Raja Ampat’s original eco-resort at Kri (donated by Papua Diving).

Head on over to Wetpixel to vote for your favorite image or design. The winning image will appear on Raja Ampat’s 2009 park tag! Public voting ends at 11:59PM, September 25, 2008 (Pacific time).
