Shark Fin Snacks
Take a look at what we found recently in Hong Kong…snacks marketed as “Shark’s Fin Flavoured”.
The little treats are made in China under license from a Japanese company named Glico, which specialises in making junk food. According to the ingredient list on the box, the product contains “Shark’s Fin Seasoning”, which supposedly contains shark’s fin powder. The Hong Kong agent is Four Seas Mercantile Limited (Address: Four Seas Group Building, No.1 Hong Ting Road, Sai Kung, Hong Kong).
We’re not sure how much if any actual shark fin is in the product, but the entire concept is ridiculous. It’s truly a sad reflection on society when a marketing concept this convoluted is used to sell snacks…sprinkling dried, powdered, flavourless, nutritionless keratin and cartilage (which has a high chance of being laced with toxic levels of mercury and other pollutants) on junk food in order to make it attractive to kids and consumers in general.
