CDEX Wrap Up

We recently paid our first visit to the China Dive Exhibition 2007,
which is the only international trade exhibition, conference, networking and consumer dive event in China. We were located in booth 234 in Hall 2 at the China World Exhibition Hall in Beijing.

Held from 25 to 27 August, the event attracted lots of visitors, mostly from in and around the city. Among the highlights of the event were seminars like Scubapro/Uwatec’s introduction of the Galileo (which is the first dive computer incorporating a Chinese-language interface), the annual meeting of the China Underwater Association, and a lucky draw every two hours with prizes from many diving manufacturers, such as Mares, Scubapro and Halcyon.

Among other overseas exhibitors located near us were the Andaman Diving Group (which runs Mermaid Liveaboard, Aquamaster, All 4 Diving, Sea World Dive Team and Royal Phawadee Village), the only dive exhibitor from Thailand in the show. Also represented were Tourism Malaysia, Tourism Philippines, and many manufacturers, including Scubapro, Mares, IST, Cressi Sub, Bauer Compressor, Coltri Sub, L&W and Faber Cylinder.

Aside from business, the organiser held a dinner for exhibitor’s on the 25th with lots of delicious food. We also met up with many friends, including David from ScubaCam (Singapore), who helped with our booth (and more importantly, helped to arrange for some of the visitors to our booth to take us on side trips to the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Wangfujin Shopping Street and other great sites). Other people who dropped by to say hello included Alfred and Mike from Diverchannel.com, Dirk from Dugong Dive Center, Lawrence from Avillion Layang Layang, L C from 10 Bar and Elaine from China Beijing Divers Club.

All-in-all, it was a great show, and we’re working on our Mandarin to be able to have even more fun at next year’s show!
