Pirate’s Treasure at Tioman Mega Dive
The FiNS Team was recently invited to visit Tioman Mega Dive. What a trip it was!
Tourism Malaysia arranged a flight from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur by Malaysian Airlines. From Kuala Lumpur, we took Berjaya Air, which runs two flights a day to Tioman Island. There was a warm welcoming party waiting for us at the airport.
On reaching Tioman, we were invited to stay at Berjaya Tioman Beach Golf & Spa Resort Berjaya Tioman Beach Golf & Spa Resort. The island is too large for guests to walk from beach to beach, so most divers dive only with their local beach dive operator. Of course, other non-diving activities are also plentiful, such as beach games, beach parties, and movies for everyone to join in.
For divers like us, the highlight of the trip was the treasure hunt! Little “pirate” treasure boxes were hidden among the reefs of five famous dive areas, waiting to be found. Activities were also organized for underwater photographers, such as the Underwater Photo Clinic, a talk given by a professional underwater photographer, and the Underwater Photo Competition organized by DivePhotoGuide.com.
Fantastic prizes were awarded to the lucky winners of the treasure hunt, and the winners of the Underwater Photo Competition were announced during dinner on our last day there. Berjaya Resort also held a post-dinner beach party, featuring live music from the famous Malaysian singer, Single Track Mind (a.k.a. Alex Wong).
It was a wonderful experience. Some divers went home with unbelievable prizes and an amazing underwater experience. But for the FiNS Team, the best part was making so many great new friends. We hope to go back again next year!
