MIDE Wrap Up
We just came back from the Malaysia International Dive Expo 2007 (MIDE 2007) at the Putra World Trade Center, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
The show was packed with many active divers, and we hooked up with a lot of great people at the show, starting with Jenny from Roach Reefs Resort, who helped us get sorted and Danny (the Deep Secret coffee table book photographer).
Among the many people we spent time with were Mataking, SMRT, Seaventures, Borneo Divers, B&J Diving Center, Tulamben Wreck Divers , friends from Tourism Malaysia, Sarawak Tourism Board, Sabah Tourism, and equipment manufacturers like Beuchat, Lawrence factor and Bauer Compressors
Pamela Lim, one of our contributors, was in the PYO Dive booth, where we kept our luggage…thank you Pamela and PYO!
We also ran into Scubapro Asia Pacific from Hong Kong, and Wendy from DivePhotoGuide. During the exhibitor’s party, we had a chance to talk with Richard Ng (MIDE ambassador and famous DJ in Malaysia).
After the party, we went with Jenny and Alvine from Lawrence Factor to a street stall for some excellent food, and ate until we could barely walk (This is one of the best reasons to go to dive shows in Asia).
The highlight of our second day was that we got to meet Ms. Fauziah Latiff or “Jee”, a really popular vocalist and actress in Malaysia who represents the Malaysian Coral Reef Conservation Society. We’re particularly happy that Jee has kindly agreed to help with our Anti-Shark Fin campaign in near future.
When all was said and done, we made it back to Bangkok to launch the new website. Actually, we barely made it back, since the Air Asia flight was delayed by about six hours.
And now, off to the Tioman Mega Dive event.
