Our Visit to Hong Kong
Preparing each issue of FiNS takes a lot of work. After each issue is sent out, we try to take a short break to recharge ourselves for the massive effort needed for the next issue.
Recently, we took a short trip to Hong Kong, one of the many cities in Asia that never sleeps. Of course, even when we take a break, it’s usually diving-related, and our visit to Hong Kong was no different.
We first dropped in to see 10 Bar to take a look at their collection of underwater camera housings featuring their unique vacuum pressure lock system. We had a chance to look around the production floor, and get a glimpse into what’s required to conceive, design and manufacture camera housings and associated gear. Wow…and we though putting together a magazine is a lot of work!
We also managed to catch up with our friends at Scubapro Asia Pacific, where we had the chance to get an up-close and personal introduction to the 2007 product line-up, including the new Galileo dive computer from UWATEC. The Galileo is feature-packed and suitable for everything from recreational to technical diving. It’s out now, so it’s time to visit your local UWATEC dealer to take a look!
We also met up for coffee and a chat with the team from Beuchat. Besides talking about equipment, we also discussed FiNS’ ongoing shark fin campaign, and enlisted Beuchat’s help in this area for future activities.
And of course, since we went all the way to Hong Kong, we spent some time shopping (yeah!). Once all was said and done, we packed our bags (stuffed with new toys) and headed home…to start work on the next issue.
