For many divers, the thought of sending up a surface marker buoy, or safety sausage, from five metres can be daunting. But the new Diver Signal Tube from Surface Marker aims to take that worry away.

The device consists of a durable and highly visible red-and-yellow surface marker buoy made of tough 210-Denier nylon and a 5.5-metre lanyard. The two fit into a carrying pouch that is clipped into your BCD.

The buoy can be deployed easily at depth using Surface Marker’s Webbing Deployment System, which reduces the likelihood of entanglement when string is used. It also makes a dedicated reel unnecessary.
